Interested in Learning the Alexander Technique?
I teach private lessons in Ashfield, Sydney from Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings.
Lessons cost $85 and last about 45 minutes. Discounts apply for students. Discounts also apply if more than one lesson is taken per week. As teaching is hands on, lessons are one-to-one.
(If you have difficulty with leaving home and travelling, I may be able to visit you. Feel free to get in touch and we can discuss this.)

A Bit About Lessons
The Alexander Technique is something you learn, rather than a form of treatment.
A lesson aims to give the student an experience of moving and holding their bodies in a better way, as well as a means of practising this for themselves between lessons. The teacher uses their hands to gently guide the student while also giving verbal explanation for the student to apply.
Simple movements are used at first – sitting, standing, walking – so the student can learn to prevent unnecessary and interfering habits. As the student improves, they can apply their new skills to more complex activities such as singing, running, playing the piano – whatever is most relevant to them.
As teaching is hands on, lessons are one-to-one.

A Bit About Workshops
I run regular introductory workshops through Parramatta College, usually one per school term. For more information and bookings please see the Parramatta College website
I also run introductory workshops and talks on request. Some I have previously held have been at music schools, workplaces, community organisations, music teachers’ studios for their students, and people’s homes for small groups. Feel free to get in touch if this is of interest.
On Having Lessons: A Student’s Perspective
When I first heard about the Alexander technique through a newspaper article, it made intuitive sense to me. In the interview, Christine talked about changing the way we moved in everyday activities in order to manage pain and injuries.
I had experienced back and neck pain at times, I had been to physiotherapists and osteopaths for recovery from injuries in the past but could see that these sessions did not support the real and lasting change I was seeking.
